A Stunning Low Budget Tecno F1 Phone

Tecno F1 gold Featured

Tecno launched the F1 and then, in a twist of good marketing, gave us the best alternatives to it too. If you are not looking for all that on a device and would rather go for a slightly better Tecno F2 smartphone.

If you want just a little bit more, you should be looking at the Tecno Pop1 (F3) or the Camon X Pro instead. Tecno S1 is also good low end device from TECNO.

Tecno F1 was unveiled during the Tecno Camon X launch event in Nigeria, alongside the device were other low-end smartphones which includes; Tecno F2 and Tecno F3 (Pop1)

Coming under the new Android Go program, the device is intended to give the low-budget Android market a taste of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Tecno F1 comes with a very low price tag to match it’s poor technical specifications.

Tecno F2 at the other hand features a slightly beefed RAM capacity (1GB), this happens to be the only difference between the two. Let’s go into details and see what the F1 device has in store it’s customers. You should be looking at the Tecno Pop1 (F3) or the Camon X Pro instead. Design

When it comes to low budget smartphones like the Tecno F1, a nice design isn’t top priority. Nonetheless, the Tecno F1 to an extent is a good looking device with 18:9 aspect ratio alongside a nice plastic build – a common occurrence in low budget smartphones.

The front houses three capacitive touch buttons below the screen and array of speaker, sensors plus camera at the top.

Design-wise, the device, like you would expect, sports a plastic chassis which is available in about four colors and the display is a 5-inch IPS LCD Touchscreen having a 480p resolution and no display protection.

Display

Talking about the viewing screen, there is an average low budget offering in place. So don’t be too judgemental about it because this is what you’d find in a similar budget smartphone.

That being said, there is a 5.0-inch FWVGA (854 X 480 pixels) display with a nice 18:9 aspect ratio seen in premium smartphones.

Performance

In the area of hardware, the smartphone doesn’t have much with nothing more than an entry level SoC in charge of operations. You’ve got a MediaTek MT6580A running at 1.3GHz an a Mali-400 GPU for graphics munching.

In addition, there’s a 512MB RAM with 8GB of internal storage. Expansion of the storage us supported up to 32GB using a MicroSD card.

Despite being an entry level smartphone, you have the latest Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition optimized for a smooth predominance with Go version of pre-installed apps.

Camera

Above the screen on the F1 device is a 2MP snapper for video calling (WhatsApp, Messenger and other apps that can use this) as well as handling selfie needs.

It is surprising – in a good way – that Tecno would be magnanimous enough to add a soft LED flash to the front for selfies in dark places.

That is paired with the 5MP sensor on the back which promises even better capturing. Combined with its own LED flash, you can get better pictures in low light now.

Battery Capacity and Sensors

Inside, there is a meagre 2,000mAh battery which is about all you need for a day usage on the smartphone. This is possible considering the low specs on the smartphone which in turn consumes less power.

Also, if you are looking for a quick charge you would have to pay more for a mid-range to premium smartphone instead.

The connectivity options includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and sensors like accelerometer.
