Samsung Galaxy J3 2018 Feels Like an “Old Guard”

Samsung Galaxy J3 featured

Samsung Galaxy J3 released in may 2018 is one Samsung smartphone am not really sure about, it kind of look like a phone that was manufacture in a rush, coming in with a plastic body that is not so pleasing to the eye.

The smartphone has a dual SIM phone with a plastic body design and a dimension measuring 142.7 x 70.1 x 8.9 mm (5.62 x 2.76 x 0.35 inches (height – width – thickness) which weigh 152 grams.

Samsung Galaxy J3 is available in various colors which are Black, Blue, Gold but it’s of 16GB model. The 16GB internal memory is not that much as it can only house few applications, pictures, videos, and games.

Exynos 7570 processor of the device is fast and effective, and can be compared to the processor found in Oppo F1; although i can not say which processor is faster.

One drawback is that the phone lacks auto brightness which can be annoying at times. Although the display is not that large, the screen is still color rich and users will still enjoying viewing.

Battery life of the phone is average and can manage to last a day with moderate use.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy J3 IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display occupies approximately 68.9% of the smartphone body, setting the screen display size at 5.0 inches with screen resolution at 720 by 1280 pixel and screen density, PPI at 294 pixel per inch.

The screen of the device is not that large and even comes with thicker bezel that makes the screen looks smaller than it is, smartphones with lesser bezel actually gives better display, however, the phone still gives a decent display with its IPS screen.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy J3 2018 phone’s design for me is not that impressive, while it looks like the latest Samsung flagship it feels like an old guard. The device has an all plastic build aside from the glass used in the front and the central select button which is made of metal.

The side of the phone looks like it was made with fancy frosted aluminum which makes it look like latest Samsung phones. It has a button layout below the screen, the phone is 7.9mm thick and has a finger print sensor.

The phone has thicker bezel making the screen look smaller than it actually is. The good thing about the design is that it comes with a removable battery and a microSIM and micro SD slot .

Performance

Samsung Galaxy J3 runs on Android Oreo operating system with performance backed by a 2GB RAM and Quad-core processing unit clocking at speeds of 1.4 GHz. The internal storage size of the Samsung phone is available at 16GB with expandable memory via microSD card of up to 256GB.

The phone runs on an Exynos 7570 processor which is fast, but not as fast as the Exynos 7885 in the A8. The RAM size of 2GB is not that much of support and  should be upgraded.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy J3 comes with dual 8-megapixel  rear or primary camera with f/1.9 aperture while an 5-megapixel front or secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture is stationed for additional camera support.

A smaller aperture on smartphones creates much better natural pictures than a wider aperture because it lets in more light.

Samsung phones usually comes with very good cameras, but i really don’t know what J3 is all about, because am not at all impress with its camera as i expected more.

Although the picture quality is not that bad and can still give a fairly good picture and video. The dual rear camera does more for the phone than the selfie camera and gives a very good picture quality.

Battery Capacity and Sensors

Samsung Galaxy J3 is powered by a removable Li-Ion battery, which is beneficial to users as they can remove the battery when it is bad and replace it with another one.

Battery cell is able to store up to 2600 mAh charge to power all the above features and more. The battery life is fairly good and able to last up to 110 hours on stand by, 10 hours of talk time and 15 hours of music play.

The device supports connectivity options like includes WI-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS and sensors which includes Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, compass.
