Etisalat has now been changed to 9mobile but these top up codes should work on your 9mobile line without any issues.
A lot of people will be wondering what’s the difference between recharge and top-up. Well, there is a slight difference but you will be forgiven if you don’t know the difference. A lot of people don’t know the difference either.
What is the difference between recharge and top-up?
Not so long ago, recharge comes with a validity period. Which means you have a specified period to use up your mobile recharge value. This is where the concept of both recharge and top-up comes in. With recharge, you get to extend the validity of your mobile recharge value. For instance, if your recharge has a validity of 1 month attached to it, when you perform another recharge, the validity period is extended by an additional one month. In other words, it adds to the previous validity period.
With top-up, it is different. Top-up will only increase your account balance without extending your validity period. Example: if your recharge has a validity period of 1 month, and you decide to top-up your mobile, the validity will still remain the same but your account balance will be increased.
But recently you don’t have to worry about validity because every sim has a validity of 10 years. So, even if you don’t recharge your airtime for 10 years, you will not lose your number. Hence, the concept of recharge and top-up were now seen as the same thing.
What is airtime top up?
When you connect a mobile phone to your Etisalat network, to perform any function, you need to purchase airtime (credit). This credit allows you to make voice call, send text messages, purchase mobile data, subscribe to other value added services like weekly news update, caller tunes, and other network services etc.
The top-up will allow you to continue to perform functions and enjoy the services offered by the Etisalat network. Well, that’s until the credit runs out and you will be required to top-up again.
How much airtime you can top-up
This is usually different from one network provider to another. But since we are talking about Etisalat, let’s be more specific.
Due to various top-up channels we have available today, there is usually no limit to the amount you can use to top-up. I’m usually the type uses online channels to recharge, but I know we have #50, #100, #200, #500, and #1,000 recharge card. If there are other options I really don’t know. If there are, please let me know.
But with the online channels, you have no limit to how much you can recharge. Aside the traditional recharge cards we know, other top-up channels include:
Mobile Pay, eRecharge, eVoucher Etisalat Payment Machines, Local Credit Transfer Etisalat Online Services, Etisalat Mobile App, International Credit Transfer, Online Banking, etc.

Mobile Pay can be regarded as a new service. It allows you to register your Debit Card and then use it to top-up your Etisalat lines. - Next, enter your mobile PIN code. This is the code that used to register on the Etisalat Online service website and confirm
- You should get a confirmation SMS of successful payment.
Top-up using credit transfer
With this option, you get to transfer credit from your phone to another Etisalat line. It has two options, the Normal Credit Transfer and Secure Credit Transfer. Just as the name implies one is more secure than the other.
To use the Normal Credit Transfer Method, simply dial *100*mobile number*amount of money# and Send or Press OK. Example, *100*08090000000*100# and press Send.
To use the Secure Transfer Method, you need to get your PIN first. To get your PIN, send CTPIN to 1010. Next, dial *100*mobile number*amount of money*PIN# and Send. For example, *100*08090000000*100*1234#
N.B: 5% transaction fee applies and would be deducted from you.
There are other methods you can use to top-up, like using your bank mobile app, using your bank magic number, etc.
