Calling Airtel’s 111 and 121 in Nigeria

Most of us still remember the good old times when speaking to your mobile network assistant was extremely simple.

You can quickly call Customer Care phone number and respond with ‘0’ option to be transferred directly to an agent. Well, those times are gone.

Today you cannot call 111 or 121 and dial 0 to speak to Airtel Customer care agent in Nigeria. There is more than this to be done when you really want to speak to a real person.

Once you call the helpline at 111 or 121 you will listen to different options. ‘Zero’ menu no longer works.

Here is what still works:

  • Step 1. Make sure you are using Airtel SIM card.
  • Step 2. Call the free number 111 or 121
  • Step 3. Listen to options and respond by clicking on number 3.
  • Step 4. Respond again by clicking on number 6.
  • Step 5. You will then be forwarded to speak with an agent and not the computer with multiple pre-recorded suggestions and tips.

P.S. Those of you who prefer getting help over the internet, can either chat with Airtel through the website or email them at customercare@ng.airtel.com.

  1. As at the time of writing, the information in this article has become inaccurate.
Following the given prompts on 111 do not get one through to an agent.
It’s not your fault too much – what you wrote may have been correct at some point.
    But it no longer is.

    • Yes it does work.

To avoid people calling for something they can simply do themselves or through the self care, Airtel and most other customer care units make it difficult to reach a representative.

You can simply follow the prompt and usually after drilling down to your exact problem, you get the option of speaking with an agent.
